Soaked in the festive mood, Jaipur is all set to daze its viewers with its Diwali festive lighting.

This year the theme and decor in Jaipur markets and historic gates of the city is inspired by the surgical strikes.

With Diwali, few days away, streets of Jaipur have already decked themselves up.
The walled city of Jaipur, known to observe the occasion by decking up its markets, has decided to follow the Patriotic theme.

The heritage gates of Jaipur, which marks the entrance to the markets and the walled city will spread awareness messages and tell mythological tales.

Homage to jawans
The historical Sanganeri Gate of Jaipur, entrance to famous Jowhari bazar, will represent Kashmir’s Uri region, showing army personnel walking towards the line of control.

The market association secretary, Ghanshyam Bhuthra told DH, “The idea is to symboliside the sacrifice of army personnels and jawans who died fighting for their motherland.”

Similarly, Ajmeri Gate at Chaura Rasta will be decked up with stills from the Hindi film ‘Border’. It will show jawans holding arms and fighting for their country. Sanjeev Phalawat, secretary of Bapu Bazar said, “This is a homage to the sacrifice of the jawans.”

The historical gate at Chandpole will get a mythological touch. A 100 feet gate, under construction, will demonstrate Pushpak Vahan, the flying chariot of demon king Ravana (which was taken from Kubera, and returned to him by Rama). Whereas the gate at Kishanpole will have an awareness message of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’.
More than 100 artists and artisans from West Bengal are working on it.

The gates will be ready by Thursday and will be fully lit up on the occasion of Dhanteras (October 28th).  Every year a competition is held by Jaipur Municipal Corporation in which the market with unique lighting and most decorated gate is given an award.
