Kidnapped sons of Delhi businessman rescued after five days

After hectic operation in a dense jungles of Lakhisarai, two sons of a Delhi businessman, were today rescued, five days after they were abducted.

Five kidnappers were arrested from the spot while a few others managed to flee, Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters) Sunil Kumar told reporters in the state capital.

Acting on a tip off, a joint team of Patna and Lakhisarai Police and CRPF started search operation in the jungles under Kajra police station last midnight.

The team managed to rescue the two brothers - Suresh Chandra Sharma and Kapil Sharma - this morning after a brief encounter, Patna SSP Manu Maharaj, who led the operation, he said.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who is touring Deogarh and Dumka in Jharkhand, has praised the policemen for rescuing the two brothers.

Lakhisarai Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar said four pistols, 15 live cartridges, food items and 'intoxicating drugs' have been seized from a bag found in possession of the accused.

The two brothers, son of businessman Babulal Sharma and residents of Badarpur in Delhi, were kidnapped by unidentified persons from Jai Prakash Narayan International Airport at Patna soon after they landed there on October 22 last.

When asked about possibility of the role of naxalites in the abduction case, the ADG said though the area from where the two brothers were rescued is naxal-infested but no direct linkage of naxalites have been found so far.

Recalling their ordeal, the two brothers said that 4-5 gun totting kidnappers always guarded them, used to beat them and gave them bare minimum food and water for their survival.

The elder of the two siblings, Suresh Sharma said after the arrival of the rescue team, the kidnappers tried to inject an intoxicant to the younger brother Kapil Sharma following which he started shouting and they hit him on his head.

Kapil Sharma thanked the Bihar Police for rescuing them from the cluthes of the kidnappers.
