The order, however, will not be applicable to the following categories: Central and State Government departments, Public Sector and other private sector undertakings where fire arm licences were issued to the managements for security purposes, the licences which are issued to retired/serving military officers, current and retired officers of the Central/State Police and para-military forces and Class-1, gazetted officers of both Central and State Governments.

Individuals seeking exemption in “exceptionally deserving cases” can apply before the Commissioner of Police on or before March 15.

The weapons can be taken back one week after April 5 from jurisdictional police with proper acknowledgement.
