<p> The shortage of medical staff and Group D employees has hit Primary Health Centres and Community Health Centres in and around Gonikoppa. <br /><br /></p>.<p>The posts of staff nurses are vacant at Balele, Hudikeri, Kanoor health centres. The state government has now issued a guidelines to fill the vacant post of D Group employees. <br /><br />A 50-bed Community Health Centre is functioning in Gonikoppa. Around 200 to 250 patients visit the centre daily. Though the sanctioned doctors to the centre is five, the posts of two doctors are lying vacant. The post of X-ray technician has not been filled for the last three years. <br /><br />On an average, 100 to 150 patients visit the 30-bed Kutta Community Health Centre daily. Out of five sactioned posts of doctors, two are lying vacant. The post of lab and X-Ray technician have also not been filled. <br /><br />In the 50-bed Palibetta Community Health Centre, the post of five doctors are lying vacant along that of X-Ray and lab technicians. Due to lack of lab and X-Ray technicians, poor patients face inconvenience at the community health centres. <br /><br />In addition, the quarters of the doctors also lack maintenance and many do not reside in the quarters allotted to them. This has been affecting the emergency medicare at night. <br />M R Akram of Hudikeri said patients have to bear the brunt of lack of paramedical staff. At the same time, some health centres have turned into breeding grounds for mosquitoes and it has been affecting the in patients, he added. <br /><br />When contacted, Taluk Medical Officer Dr Yathiraj said doctors are not keen to serve rural folks though the state government has increased the salary of doctors to Rs 1 lakh per month in rural areas. The government has issued an order for recruiting Group D employees and two security personnel for government hospitals. Accordingly, the post of D Group employees and security personnel will be filled shortly, he added. <br /><br /></p>
