Bring BJP to power in UP: Shah

Last Updated 06 November 2016, 19:11 IST

BJP leaders on Sunday urged people in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh to shun the SP and the BSP, adding that the two parties had “destroyed” the state.

The BJP asked voters to support the saffron party to bring the state back on the path of development.

Launching the party’s “parivartan yatra” from Bundelkhand’s Jhansi town, BJP national president Amit Shah said that successive SP and BSP governments in UP had done precious little for the state.

“They (SP and BSP) have only looted the state,” Shah said, addressing a rally. He also flagged off the yatra, which will be undertaken simultaneously with the one launched from Saharanpur in the state on Saturday.

“Uttar Pradesh is yearning for change... only the BJP can ensure UP’s all-round development,” he added. Besides harping on development, BJP leaders, including Union ministers Rajnath Singh and Uma Bharti, also raked up the law and order issue and backwardness of the Bundelkhand region.

“The Centre has provided funds to the state under different schemes, but the money has not reached the people... development works have come to a standstill owing to the ongoing fighting within the SP family,” Shah said.
