BWSSB to organise meetings to educate public on STP

The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) will be holding a series of public awareness programmes on the installation of modular sewage treatment plant or gray water treatment plant (STP/GWTP) and dual piping system.

Recently, the BWSSB made it mandatory for the buildings/apartments or flats with 20 or more houses/buildings with a built-up area of 2,000 square metres and above including basement to instal STP/GWTP and dual piping system. The treated water will be used to flush toilets and other purposes. The rule also applies to educational institutions with or without hostels with a built-up area of 5,000 square metres and above, townships or projects developed on 10 acres and above.

A penalty of 25% of the water and sanitary charges will be imposed on residential buildings for the first three months, in case of violation, and the charges will double thereafter, until installation. For non-residential buildings, the penalty starts from 50% of the water and sanitary charges and 100% thereafter.

November 16: No 507, building of Chord Road Residents’ Association, MC Layout Post Office Road for the residents of West, Northwest-1 and Northwest-2 divisions
between 10 am and 12 noon.

November 19:  Sir M Visvesvaraya Rainwater Harvesting Theme Park, 8th Main, 40th Cross, 5th Block, Jayanagar, for South, Southwest and Southeast 2 division residents, between 10 am and 12 noon .
