JOIN USRizwan Khan of Mysuru got into his stride straightaway as he blazed to victory in the superbikes category (Unrestricted) in the MMSC-FMSCI Indian National Drag Racing championship here on Sunday.
Rizwan, riding a BMW HP4, clocked 9.746 seconds to bag the top honours. Hyderabad’s Md Riyaz clinched the second spot in 9.898 seconds, while Stephen Pachigalla of Visakhapatnam came in third in 10.110 seconds.
In the Indian Open class for cars, Bengaluru’s Pratap Jayaram, driving a modified Mahindra Reva, stunned the sparse crowd at the Taneja Aerospace facility with his triumphant show.
Jayaram completed the 400 metres race in 11.055 seconds, touching a top speed of 260 kmph, the quickest among cars across all classes.
Joel Joseph, also from Bengaluru, came second with a timing of 12:042 seconds, while Jagadish Gowda grabbed the third spot in 12.653 seconds.
Joel, meanwhile, continued his fine run to win the title in the Unrestricted class with a time of 11.992 seconds.
Pachigalla, again fell short, landing the second spot in 13.166 seconds, while Jayant V of Bengaluru came third in 13.898 seconds.
Meanwhile in the ‘Above 1050cc’ class of the Superbikes section, Bengalurean Zubair Ali Jung clocked 10.647 seconds to win the title.
Mohammed Asif Ullah came second with a timing of 10.812 seconds, while Naveen YA completed the podium in 11.133 seconds.
In the ‘Up to 1050cc’ class, Rameez Khan of Mysuru emerged fastest with a time of 09.9820 seconds.
Pavan Rangaraj (1450cc), Dheeraj Manae (1450cc), Siddharth Sinh Jhala (2550cc), Vineet Abhiram (3050cc) and Vivek Ramachander (050cc Diesel) topped their respective categories in the MMSC Drag Race series that doubled up as the support event for the National championship.
