On a 'speedy' culinary

New entry
Last Updated 16 November 2016, 19:06 IST

Raftaar lounge and bar is the newest entrant in bustling market of Punjabi Bagh. But unlike what its name suggests, this place has nothing to do with the rapper Raftaar.

The name signifies the high-paced life of people today. Located at Club Road¸ the place is a complete gear of fine dining and clubbing with family and friends.

The moment one enters the lounge, can feel the high energy — in terms of fascinating lights, great music and the impressive interiors which comprises high-speed car and bikes elements.

The restaurant is divided in three levels which are entirely different from each other. Where the ground floor is an ideal place for partying, the second floor serves as a fine dining restaurant and the open terrace has a pool where people can organise private parties.

Coming to the food, the food menu is set as per the tastes and preferences of the Delhiites and offers oriental food. To start with we tried ‘Fish Tikka’ and ‘Wings of/on Fire’. While the fish dish was an average affair, the chicken dish came as a nice surprise. One can choose their chicken pieces either fried or grilled with choices of sauces — BBQ sauce, honey chilli glaze, Jamaican jerk and peri peri.

Jamaican jerk is a good option if you like different flavours bursting in your mouth. Meanwhile, we ordered for ‘Head in the Clouds’ and ‘Sink in Pink’ from the mocktails. The first preparation, made with blueberries, lemonade, blueberry and maple foam —  is a must try for those who love some drama in their drinks. The latter, made by blending lychees, coconut milk and granadine syrup, was little high on sweetness.

We then tried the ‘Vintage Full House’ from their section of thin crust pizzas. With assorted aubergine and zucchini, mushrooms, pepper, mixed olive, corns, mozzarella, the pizza was a  good pick.

For main course, we ordered ‘Dal Dabba’, ‘Hakeemi Murg’ served with missi roti. One must try the north Indian offerings here. They have done minimal experiment with authentic dishes, and have retained their true flavours.

Among the desserts, ‘Deconstruction of Tiramisu’ and ‘Alive by Brownie Sundae’ are good choices.
