The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested three people — a treasury officer with BBMP, his private agent and a village accountant — for taking bribe for official work.

The ACB said its sleuths trapped Sathish Kumar, a treasury officer in BBMP’s Horamavu ward and his agent, Honnegowda, on Saturday. They are accused of taking Rs 1 lakh in cash and Rs 1.25 lakh by cheque from a resident of Kalyan Nagar who had applied for ‘B’ khata for his 20-gunta land.

The complainant told the ACB that Kumar had demanded a total of Rs 4.25 lakh for issuing ‘B’ khata. He said he paid him Rs 2 lakh in cash on November 10, but the latter refused to get his work done unless he paid the bribe in full.

The man then filed a complaint with ACB. The sleuths trapped Honnegowda near BBMP’s Horamavu ward office when he was taking the cheque and cash. Both of them have been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

In another raid, ACB sleuths trapped a village accountant when he was taking bribe from a farmer for official work. The suspect is P Shivanna, village accountant of Rachamanahalli (Anekal taluk).

The farmer had applied for khata (revenue document) for his land at Besthamanalli in Kasaba hobli, Anekal taluk, in his father’s name. Shivanna demanded Rs 10,000 for issuing the khata.
