Helmetless ride turns fatal for birthday boy

Helmetless riding proved costly for two private company employees who were killed in separate accidents in the city on Sunday.

The police said Conrad Mario Prichardo, 31, a resident of HRBR Layout was killed on the spot after he crashed his bike against the wall of an underpass on Hennur Ring Road. Pillion rider John Naveen Kumar, 30, a resident of Kothnur, was injured in the accident.

Prichardo hosted his birthday party at his house on Saturday night. Around 12.30 am on Sunday, he went to drop his friend Naveen Kumar to his house. On nearing the underpass, he lost control over the vehicle and hit against the wall. He suffered massive head injuries as he was not wearing helmet. Prichardo and John were taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared Prichardo brought dead.
The police said they were yet to ascertain whether Prichardo was drunk.

In the other incident, Chiranjeevi, 24, a HP employee and a resident of Kengeri New Town was killed in Ramamurthynagar. On his way to Hebbal from Tin Factory, bike rider Chiranjeevi lost balance and fell while taking a left turn at Ramamurthynagar junction. He sustained severe head injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. He was declared brought dead. The accident occurred around 2 am, the police said.

Run over by train

An unidentified man aged around 25 was killed on the spot after he was run over by a train between Malur and Devanagudi stations on Saturday night.

Local residents informed the police about a body lying on the railway tracks and the police shifted the body to Bowring Hospital. The police said they are yet to ascertain whether it was a suicide or an accident.

Groom goes missing

A private firm employee, whose wedding is scheduled to take place on December 10, went missing under mysterious circumstances from Anchepalya, off Mysuru Road on Friday night. Raju is said to have gone missing around 7 pm, minutes after he answered a phone call.

Raju, who is also into money lending, lives in a farm house along with his father. “He was last seen around 7 pm on Saturday. Raju’s mobile phone was found at the farm house. There were bloodstains on the ground outside the farm house. It is not known if Raju was attacked and taken away,” the Kumbalgod police said. The police have constituted a team to trace Raju.
