A 23-year-old employee of a private power company was found dead in a car in Outer Delhi’s Narela area on Sunday.

In another incident, a burnt body of an unidentified man was recovered from a vacant plot in Uttam Nagar. The man murdered in Narela was identified as Mohit Kumar. He was reported missing after he drove off in his car on Saturday evening, police said.

His body was found in the morning around 8 am on the driver's seat of his car with his neck slit, said a police officer of Narela police station. His car was found parked a couple of lanes away from his home in Bankner village by some passers by who checked and found him dead, police said. Police said Kumar worked as a contract employee in the power distribution company of the area.

“We are awaiting the post mortem report to proceed. We are trying to find out if Kumar was killed in the car or was murdered somewhere else and later left in the car by the killer,” said a police official, claiming that nothing suspicious was recovered yet from the vehicle.

The Uttam Nagar murder was reported to the police control room at around 7 am by a rag picker, police said. The rag picker was collecting reusable waste from the plot in Mohan Garden area. “Remains of a blanket were also seized from the spot, indicating that the victim was wrapped in the blanket before being torched,” police said. The detection of the body caused panic in the area with curious onlookers gathering at the spot, while the forensic teams collected evidence.

“The body has been sent to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital for post mortem,” police said. The murderers had removed all papers from the pockets of the victim and there were very little clues available to identify the youth who appeared to be aged aged around 20-22 years.
