Deputy Commissioner G Satyavati has advised people against dragging personal problems into the open. She spoke after receiving complaints during a public grievances redressal meeting on Wednesday.

The deputy commissioner instructed a man in dispute with his relatives over a petty issue to solve the problem in private and in a peaceful manner.

A man from Mudigere taluk in the district complained to the deputy commissioner that his relatives had restricted his family from using a road next to their house.

The road was being used for the last 20 years. Following this, deputy commissioner said, while the complaints related to government services and schemes could be solved in such redressal meetings, it would be better not to bring matters related to family into public domain.

Ningappa from Emmedoddi in Kadur taluk complained that he was yet to receive compensation for the land acquired for road. The deputy commissioner, in her reply, directed the officials either to pay compensation according to the value of the land or to return the land, as the property in question had been already surveyed. The reports had confirmed that Ningappa was the owner of the land.

On the issue related to payments to plantation workers hitting a dead block for now owing to demonetisation, the deputy commissioner promised to discuss the matter with the manager of district lead bank.

The officer also promised to take into account the mode of payment adopted in Kerala and Assam, by discussing the same with the deputy commissioners of the districts in those states.
