The Justice Farooq Commission, enquiring into the allotment of ‘G’ category sites, on Tuesday submitted before the High Court of Karnataka the report pertaining to the allotment of 56 plots.

The report submitted by Additional Advocate General A S Ponnanna said that out of 56 allottees, 53 were entitled for allotment and could retain their sites. The division bench headed by Chief Justice Subhro Kamal Mukherjee directed the authorities to complete the transactions in respect of 53 allottees.

“We direct the authorities to complete the transaction by executing the formal documents in favour of those 53 allottees within one month. In respect of three allottees, the committee could not make any recommendation for retention of their sites due to reasons indicated in the report. We shall consider the cases of those three allottees subsequently,” the bench said. The bench posted the matter to January 4 for the committee to submit a report regarding other allotments.

In the last hearing, the state government had submitted that out of the total allotment of 313 ‘G’ category sites, enquiries had been completed in 232 cases. The enquiry commission comprises Justices A M Farooq and A V Srinivasa Reddy, former judges of the high court, and Subir Hari Singh, a retired IAS officer.

The committee was constituted in compliance with the high court order in 2012, while hearing a public interest litigation challenging the allotment of ‘G’ category sites.
