Autos in Mangaluru start Paytm services

Paytm mobile wallet service was initiated in seven autorickshaws in the city on Tuesday to enable paperless cash transactions for passengers.

In a programme organised by Kudla Souharda Sahakari near Nasik Bangera Bhavan in Police Lane, Senior Citizens’  Association President Ramesh Rao flagged off the service.

During an interaction programme, BJP Mangaluru South constituency president Vedavyas Kamath said that the mobile cash transactions will be beneficial to people at large as it is easy and convenient.

Kudla Sauharda Sahakari president Prakash V N said that the move is a significant step towards a digital India and helps better transactions along with solving the change problem. He further said that they are looking forward to enable GPS in autorickshaws and the association has sought permission from the authority concerned. Also, there are plans to open a call centre and provide call-based service to customers.

Rs 18 lakh cash seized  
The police have arrested three persons and seized Rs 18.80 lakh in cash in Puttur on Wednesday.

The seized currency include Rs 16.80 lakh in Rs 2,000 denomination currency, Rs 1,90,700 in Rs 100 denomination and Rs 9,300 in Rs 50 denomination. The car used to transport money too has been seized. The arrested are Jaffer Sharief, a resident of Golthamajalu, Nazeer and Mohammed Iqbal, both residents of Kalladka, police said.
