Two killed in jumbo attack

Two people were killed in a jumbo attack at Maralahalli village in Tekal hobli, Malur taluk, on Thursday.

The deceased are - Sumithra, 28, a resident of Maralahalli and an agricultural labour, and Narayanappa, 38, a farmer and a resident of Abbigiri Hosahalli village in Bangarpet taluk.

When Sumithra visited the fields in the morning the jumbo suddenly attacked her. Sumithra suffered serious injuries and died on the spot.

Narayanappa had come from Abbigiri Hosahalli, to Maralahalli to catch a glimpse of the elephant. He was also attacked by the jumbo and suffered serious injuries. He was rushed to a private hospital in Kolar, but  he died in the noon, said Forest Department officials.
