Come winter, there are so many things that homes need to create a perfect crib. Interior designer Neetu Arora shares some trends for winter home decor this year in terms of colour and furnishings.

Light colours don’t suit winters very well. You need to exchange lighter shades with darker ones like red, black, brown, blue and the likes. These colours will fill your space with warmth and give a cozy feeling which makes winters essentially feel better.

Pick fabrics like velvet, wool, faux and cashmere when choosing bed covers, pillow covers, and blankets. Geometric designs and flowery patterns are the most trending designs this winter. Use thick curtains of darker shades that can absorb more heat from the sun.

Throw some wrapping materials made of faux or fur over your sofas and sitting areas. Elegance, comfort and luxury will be visibly yours while you relax in your jazzed up space.

Adding wood can really help to warm up your space. Wood may simply be used as flooring or may be used in bits and pieces to adorn your walls. The wide range of textures and patterns available based on the type of used and the finishing process used will give you a variety of options to choose from.

Cover any bare space with rugs and carpets to ward off cold and make walking more comfortable. You may always keep on experimenting with colours and designs as there is no one way rule when it comes to décor. Just unleash your creativity and you will not regret the outcome.

Make space for a fireplace if you do not have one. It will really reinvent your experience of late evening discussions with friends and family. Beautiful scenes of burning wood will add a special ambience to the room.

Use candles of different colours and sizes to glow up your evenings and make them comfy and restful. Candles are the easiest to buy accessories and the finest to use to warm up your evenings.
