On the occasion of ‘International Tea Day’, tea lovers talk about this trend.<br /><br />Health is a concern for fitness conscious Bengalureans and these drinks fit the bill. “Some interesting mixes are being created at different places across the city and this is because the people here love experimenting,” says Hitesh Kalita, mixologist with Movenpick Hotel & Spa Bangalore. <br /><br />“The ‘Masala chai pani’, which uses an orange infused tea bag, lemon, sugar syrup and a cinnamon stick for its concoction, is a hit among our crowd here. We have also tried ‘Frostified sunrise’, which is Earl grey tea with lemon juice, sugar syrup and a hint of mint. Many want to try different things while not compromising on health and these mocktails are the perfect answer,” he says. He adds that the presentation styles add to the mystical element of the drink too. <br /><br />These drinks are refreshing and unique and more innovative than just iced tea, says Manoj Alphones, head bartender with The Chug - Garage Bar. “We have various interesting tea-infused drinks including ‘Angel lips’, which includes tulsi tea, pomegranate juice and ginger topped with basil leaf. The ‘Havana style’ is a beach-style drink which has fresh pineapple, coconut-flavoured tea and coconut puree, and is preferred by many,”details Manoj. <br /><br />He adds that another popular option is the ‘Redberry frozen tea’, which has black tea, frozen raspberry and cranberry juice. “Tea-based mocktails are a hit among Bengalureans as they are an innovative crowd who come with their own suggestions,” he says. He adds that he even customises the drinks. “Tea has always been known to cleanse the body and includes antioxidants. People like fruit-based flavours now, which makes for a perfect combination,” says Manoj.<br /><br />These drinks are the fad today as they provide more options for teetotallers, says Rahul Panwar who works with High Ultra Lounge. “Tea-infused mocktails are the rage today as people are increasingly becoming health conscious. <br /><br />Bengalureans are constantly looking for different options to indulge in. This is why we have come up with four different concoctions which are not on the menu but are prepared on request,” he says. <br /><br />The drinks have enticing tea flavours in them, he says. “We have mocktails like jasmine tea, galangal syrup and basil; Darjeeling tea with peach, orange and pineapple juice; lychee juice with orange, lemon, hint of sugar shaken and topped with earl grey tea and lemon juice, freshly muddled pineapple, strawberry, raspberry puree and chamomile tea.”<br /><br />Even some breweries in the city aim to offer tea-infused mocktails for the ones who want to take their time out with friends to another level, says Rohit Parwani, head brewer of The Biere Club. “We experimented with a beer brew with tea and then we got many queries about mocktails.
