The Akhila Havyaka Okkuta, Shivamogga, on Tuesday filed a complaint before the state legislature committee on crimes against women and children, seeking the ouster of Ramachandrapur Mutt seer, Raghaveshwara Bharathi.

The committee chairperson and MLC, V S Ugrappa, told  reporters that Okkuta representatives M N Bhat and C H S Bhat who had met him earlier in the day, had lamented over police inaction in two sexual harassment cases against the seer. They said that while investigation into the cases filed by the Mutt singer and a student was dragging on, the Mutt had filed a “false” case of blackmailing against the singer and her husband.

“The representatives complained that the police have not taken cognisance of the complaints lodged by the two women. They have also demanded the government  to immediately appoint an administrator to the Mutt,” he said.

Ugrappa said that he had called state police chief Om Prakash and DGP (CID)Kishore Chandra, in the presence of the Okkuta members, to know the reason for the inordinate delay in investigation and filing of charge sheet in both the cases.
