‘No foul play in Russian woman’s death in Goa’
The Goa police are waiting for a post-mortem to be conducted on the body of a Russian woman who was found dead in her hotel room, but said there was no reason to suspect foul play in her death.
The body of Elena Velichko, 33, was discovered in a hotel room in Arpora, North Goa, on Wednesday evening. She was last seen alive after she ordered from room service the night before, the police said.
“The body was on the bed, and prima facie there is nothing to suggest foul play in the case,” SP Noth Goa Bosco George said. He said Elena had arrived here on March 6, but had run out of money to pay the hotel bills and stayed indoors mostly. The tourist was admitted to the Goa Medical College for treatment earlier, George said, adding, they were waiting for a clearance from the Russian consulate for the post-mortem.
