Kodagu Eki-karana Ranga leader P M Muthanna has warned of filing a contempt of court petition in the Supreme Court if the tribals are sanctioned sites in the Diddalli reserve forest.

Briefing mediapersons here on Saturday, he said some agitators have been sanctioned land under Forest Rights Act, Ashraya and other schemes. The land falling under reserve forest should not be given to the displaced tribals. Instead, the tribals should be rehabilitated on Paisari land, he demanded.

J K Muthamma, who was leading the agitation at Diddalli was sanctioned 4.40 acres of land on Survey Number 107/7A under Forest Rights Act at Chennangi. Similarly, some families, who have been rehabilitated, have encroached upon the forest land, he said.

He urged the district administration to enrol all 577 families under Aadhaar scheme.  The tribals leaders who had accused the Forest Department officials of collecting Rs 6.80 lakh in the name of sanctioning land at Diddalli forest should be probed by the CID, she demanded.
