Apathy mars road works in Kalasa

Public Works Department had taken up surfacing work of 7 kms road from Balehole to Kadekudige near Basarikatte shelling nominal amount. They had only used bitumen to surface this road but the same department took up road works from Kadekudige to Belalukoppa and this stretch of road was repaired using latest technology, shelling out crores of rupees.

The fact is the Balehole to Kadekudige road was spoilt completely and had huge potholes. Now the attitude of PWD has raised inhibitions in the minds of the people whether PWD has taken up works prioritising Koppa taluk and sidelines Mudigere taluk.

“There are only a handfull of votes from Balehole to Kadekudige hence this route has been sidelined. We are now suspicious about the intentions of PWD too,” says a local resident. PWD Mudigere Division Engineer said that a proposal of Rs 1.50 crore has been submitted for development of Balehole-Kadekudige and they are awaiting approval.
