JOIN US A 42-year-old woman was arrested by Ashok Nagar police for causing the death of a two-year-old boy.
The arrested is Kasturi Bai alias Gita, a resident of Neelasandra. The incident occurred on January 9 at Bai’s house in MG Gardens, Neelasandra, where a screen printing business is run.
According to the police, Arumugam and Sharada are construction labourers who had three sons. One of the sons, who worked as a screen printer in Bai’s house, had brought along his two-year-old brother Vijay as there was nobody at home to take care of him. As Vijay was crying inconsolably, his brother told Bai that he would bring milk from his house nearby.
As soon as he left, Bai started bashing and kicking Vijay as he was crying loudly. The boy fell unconscious. When Vijay’s brother returned, Bai told him that Vijay had fallen asleep and asked him to take the boy home. When Vijay’s parents returned home, they discovered that he would not wake up. They rushed him to St Philomena’s Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
The body was shifted for post-mortem which indicated that Vijay died of internal injuries. The police probe started with Vijay’s brother who told the cops that Bai was at home when the incident occurred.
