Kohli lauds Jadhav's 'outstanding' knock

Virat Kohli heaped praise on Kedar Jadhav, hailing his scintillating century as outstanding as India chased down a mighty 351-run target after being brought down to their knees at the start of the chase.

In the company of Kohli, Jadhav smacked a 76-ball 120 to power India to one of their most memorable wins at the MCA Stadium. “I think it was outstanding, just to have another guy that was willing to believe we can win from any situation was such a boost for me as well,” said a delighted Kohli, who himself slammed an entertaining 122, at the post match press conference. “The way he came out and exactly knew how to bat at this wicket which was tremendous. They had four quick bowlers and he really tackled all of them really well.

“He put a lot of pressure on the spinners and they couldn't come back into the game. I think it was one of the best calculative innings I’ve seen, striking the ball at 150 was outstanding. All of them were clean shots, he didn’t slog the ball once. He was brilliant and that's why we back him to play at No 6 and I'm glad I was out there with him, to keep pushing him. He was disappointed in the last series against New Zealand when he couldn't get us across the line. If you ask me describe his innings, it was outstanding.”

England skipper Eoin Morgan, dejected after losing a match that was completely in his side’s grasp, said it’s extremely painful to lose after having reduced India to 63/4. “I think it hurts more after having them at 63/4. That's what hurts the most. We had the middle order, of course Virat was still in. Certainly didn't expect Jadhav to come out and play like that. Credit to him for that blistering hundred. He struck it well from ball one and gave us no chances. Hats off to him.”
