No thanks to two malls that opened recently, residents are finding it hard to reach homes as traffic comes to a standstill between 6 pm and 10 pm.

Chaotic scenes are witnessed as vehicles piles up on Margosa Road, MKK Road, Sampige Road, Velipuram junction and a few artillery roads in and around Sampige theatre and Malleswaram Circle, that leave even the traffic policemen exasperated. “The authorities issue licenses and clearances for big malls without thinking of the load that is placed on roads, making the residents suffer for no fault of theirs,” Ramakrishna of Seshadripuram 1st Main Road, complained to Deccan Herald.

The traffic chaos is complicated by the incoming vehicular flow from other areas, with Platform Road is usually choked and the Margosa Road not in a position to take the additional density of the traffic, said Ramakrishna.

Senior police officers are contemplating posting more traffic policemen in the affected area but residents find that solution laughable.

Ravi of Malleswaram 4th Main said barring the closure of both the malls, the only solution was widening Margosa Road.
