To raise awareness among citizens about the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan’ , a car rally was organised by Rotary Bangalore Sobha Nagasandra on Sunday. People from different walks of life took part in the event.

Nearly 43 families from different parts of the city participated in the car rally. The cars were decked with messages — ‘Clean India, green India’, ‘Let's make Swachh Bharat a reality,’ among others.

The rally that was flagged off by Rotary Coordinator-Zone 5, Rtn Rajendra Rai, covered a total distance of 67 km from Tumakuru Road to Chikkajala, KIA Road and back.

“This is the first time that I took part in the rally. The event sent out a message to not dirty the streets. It took us four to five hours to complete the rally,” said Kripa Shetty, a participant.

Abhijeet Makhijani, a participant from Sahakaranagar, said that it was a wonderful experience and seemed more like an outing for him. “This was a different kind of car rally. There was no limit on the speed and we had a nice time,” he added.

Rtn Satish B N, president, Rotary Bangalore Sobha Nagasandra, said: “The event’s objective was to raise funds for the community service projects of Rotary. The proceeds will be used for our ‘Teach Mission’ project.”
