Wife charges CBI officer with torture
In 23 years of marriage, she never cooked, says husband
A sub-inspector with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been arrested on charges of harassment to his wife.
Following a complaint from Lidya, an employee of Indian Oil Corporation, the Basavanagudi Women Police have registered a case against Chandrashekar. In her complaint, Lidya claimed that Chandrashekhar would frequently subject her to mental and physical torture.
Married for 23 years, the couple have two children and were staying at a quarters in Sharavathi Block in National Village Games in Koramangala allotted by Lidya’s office.
Chandrashekhar claimed that his wife failed to cook even once in 23 years as a result husband and the children were forced to rely on hotels for food.
Recently, Chandrashekhar and the children fell ill. Presuming that the hotel food was the cause for sickness, Chandrashekhar picked up a quarrel with his wife on Saturday. In a heated argument, he slapped his wife. Enraged, Lidya, with help from a few women’s organisations approached the Adugodi police. She demanded Chandrashekhar be thrown out of the house.
Comprise failed
The police tried to evolve a compromise and summoned Chandrashekhar to police station. However, Lidya was adamant. The Adugodi police transferred the case to Basavanagudi women police.
Lidya refused to speak when Deccan Herald contacted her in the Adugodi police station. Sources said Chandrashekhar told the investigation team that he would let her do what she liked.
