A spirited fightback from Rail Wheel Factory (RWF) saw them rally twice to equalise 2-2 against South United FC in the BDFA Super Division league at the Bangalore Football Stadium here on Wednesday.

Midfielder Magesh S netted the opener for United before a well-placed header from RWF striker Nandakumar brought the scores level in an action packed first-half.

Forward Subhash R then put United ahead with a strike in the 51st minute, which was again cancelled out by Nandakumar late in the second period.

The game started in a frenetic manner with both teams going toe-to-toe with each other before United began dominating the proceedings.

The relentless pressure soon brought results. In the 14th minute, forward Senthil Kumar’s aerial through pass found Magesh, who timed his run perfectly to beat his marker and put the ball past the RWF goalkeeper Krishna. Soon after, Nandakumar rose highest to head in a good cross from wingback Shamnath in the 34th minute.

United started the second half with more purpose and took the lead in the 51st minute when midfielder Santhosh R’s effort from long range bounced off the bar and found Subhash, who slammed it past the RWF ’keeper.

RWF, however, refused to lie low and levelled the scores in the 81st minute through a Nandakumar header.

In the ‘A’ Division, BUFC held Jawahar Union to a goalless draw.
