Director PC Shekar has roped in actor Sudeep to give a voice-over for his latest venture ‘Raaga’ which traces the lives of two visually-impaired people.

The powerful narration and the interesting way in which the director has captured the emotions of the two are the highlights of the film.

The role of the visually impaired is played by comedian Mithra and actor Bhamaa. “Mithra is, for the first time, producing and playing the lead in the movie. His transformation from a comedian to a character artist is phenomenal,” explains Shekar, who has got Sudeep to introduce Mithra’s character and take the listener through the soul of the story.

About why he chose Sudeep to do the voice-over and Shekar says, “I am a big fan of Sudeep and his voice. He is also someone who encourages new talent and promotes original stories. In his voice-over, he talks about the power of the mind, and how the visually impaired must harness the power from within to live their lives and conquer their dreams.” Shekar says that Sudeep has expressed his appreciation for  the trailer of the film.

Shekar says that every actor has been chosen after a lot of thought. “Mithra essays the role of a man who believes in the power of the mind and this belief makes him a confident. He doesn’t use a stick while walking but lets his gut feeling guide him through all situations. He is poor and has barely enough money to guide him through but the simple things in life make him happy,” says Shekar.

He says that Mithra’s role is a perfect contrast to the character Bhamaa plays in the film.

“She too plays a visually-impaired person who belongs to a rich family. Unlike Mithra, who is content with whatever little he has, Bhamaa is depressed and unhappy about her situation,” says Shekar.

He says that his film is be a tribute to all those who are visually impaired.
“The idea of making a film like this is to tell people to be happy and not lose hope. It’s a happy film that encourages the visually challenged to not get stuck with the dark side of life but move on and chase their dreams,” says Shekar.

The other actors in the film are Avinash, Jai Jagadish, Ramesh Bhat, Kadipudi Chandru and Nani. Actor Roopika makes a guest appearance.
