Students Union churned out a fantastic second-half display to battle back and clinch a thrilling 3-2 victory over Bengaluru FC’s reserve side in the BDFA Super Division League at the Bangalore football stadium on Friday.

Forward Sourav TP’s second half goal (56th minute) following Beikhokhei Beingaichho’s 15th minute opener had put BFC on course for an easy win but strikes from Emmanuel (68th, 79th) and a fighting effort from Naveen (89th) saw SU keep their unbeaten run in the league intact.

SU’s gritty fightback maintained their postion on top of the table with 13 points from five games while BFC, with five points from as many games, are fifth. BFC started the game strongly and opened the scoring through midfielder Beikho when he chipped the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper Nandhash A after collecting a through pass from Sourav.

SU came out firing on all cylinders in the second period but found themselves further behind.

Against the run of play, BFC scored again when Sourav beat SU ’keeper after receving a good pass from winger Jacob. SU, however, refused to lie low and reduced the lead through Emmanuel, who found the back of the net after substitute Akshay had done well to set him up.

Emmanuel then produced a moment of magic to bring the scores level when he dribbled past three BFC defenders inside the area and lifted the ball over an advancing Jafar Mondal into the bottom left corner of the net. SU’s relentless attacks in the dying moments confirmed the turnaround as Naveen slammed home off a corner from substitute Samson.

In the ‘A’ Division, Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE) recorded a 2-1 win over Parikrma. Sharath (32nd) and Kapil (68th) netted for ADE while Thongmang (28th) scored for Parikrma.
