JOIN USThe Karnataka High Court on Thursday issued notice to the state government, Water Resources Department and Minor Irrigation Department on a PIL seeking directions to form a Godavari Belt Area Development Board in Bidar district.
The petitioner, Gurunath Vadde has sought directions to form the board on behalf of the farmers and people of Bidar district for utilisation of water for agriculture. The petitioner has contended that though the government has started the Karanja Project Plan, Chuluki Nala Plan, Manjra Barrages, various programmes for lakes of minor irrigation and check dams, it has not implemented them. A division bench comprising Chief Justice S K Mukherjee and Justice R B Budihal ordered notice and directed the state government to file its objections in four weeks.
