The RT Nagar police have registered a case against an astrologer and two others for cheating a real estate businessman of Rs 2 crore.

According to the police, complainant Ashraf Ali had approached a local court in 2011. He had lodged a complaint stating that Chandrashekar, a well-known astrologer and two of his associates Rajini Bhat and Girish Kamath, had taken Rs 2 crore from him assuring him that they would get him tenders for advertisement hoardings around Palace Grounds.

The trio had convinced Ali that they are highly connected and would get the tenders easily.
But when Ali approached Chandrashekar after a few months, he began to dodge him. Ali, who realised he was being cheated, then asked them to return his money. Ali approached the local court and filed a complaint, said the police.

The court looked into the complaint and on Thursday, directed the RT Nagar police to register a case against Chandrashekar and two others and ensure that necessary action is taken.
The police are investigating into the case and will question the complainant and Chandrashekar and his two associates.
