Yet another violation of Pocso Act

Last Updated 27 February 2017, 19:00 IST

In another violation of the Pocso Act, a local BJP worker has named the playschool where eight children were allegedly molested by a supervisor.

In a social media post on the participation of Mahadevapura MLA Aravind Limbavali in a protest against the school on Sunday, Raju Raj named the playschool, which is a violation of the Pocso (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act, 2012.

There have been several violations of the Act with Limbavali himself naming the school in a tweet on Saturday. A tweet from the chief minister’s official Twitter handle also named the school.

Last week, a member of the Karnataka State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (KSCPCR) was pulled up for posting a photograph on Twitter in which a board naming the school was visible.

V S Ugrappa, the chairperson of the Legislative Committee on Women and Child Safety, condemned such posts and said people needed to be more responsible since revealing the identity of children would put them in harm’s way.
