At No 16, Bengaluru fares poorly in survey of 21 cities

Bengaluru has slipped four places and is ranked 16th in a survey of cities conducted by Bengaluru-based NGO Janaagraha.The city was in the 12th position in 2015.

The Annual Survey of India’s City-Systems evaluates laws, policies and institutions in 21 cities across 18 states.  Overall, Thiruvananthapuram came first, retaining its 2015 position. Pune has gone up from the fourth to second place, while Kolkata remains in the third place.

Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bhopal are ranked fourth, fifth and sixth respectively. While Bengaluru’s overall score remained unchanged, its rank has fallen because the scores of Bhubaneswar, Ahmedabad, Raipur and Ranchi have improved since the previous survey.
