JOIN USStudents will now have to produce Aadhaar cards to avail midday meal in their schools under a flagship scheme of the central government.
Those engaged in cooking and serving meals in schools will also have to obtain the unique number to get their remunerations under the scheme.
“Individuals desirous of availing the benefits under the (midday meal) scheme offered at the schools are required to furnish proof of possession of Aadhaar number or undergo Aadhaar authentication,” the HRD Ministry said in a gazette notification.
For students and cook-cum-helpers who have not yet got the unique number, the ministry has fixed June 30 as the last date for making application for Aadhaar enrolment.
“(Those) who do not possess an Aadhaar number or has not yet enrolled for Aadhaar shall have to apply for Aadhaar enrolment by June 30, 2017,” the ministry said.
