Rain lashes various parts of state

 Rain lashed various places across the state on Wednesday. Heavy rain lashed Badami in Bagalkot district for 10 minutes in the afternoon. Areas near Menabasadi, Agastatheertha Honda and Old Badami town witnessed increase in temperature level after the rain.

The rain cooled the scorching heat in Bagalkot town. The people were drenched in coloured water during Holi festival recently were happy receive the showers. the fragrance of the soil following the rain pleased the residents. The children came out of their houses with umbrellas. The rain was accompanied by thunder and lightning.

Bagalkot, Navanagar, Badami, Gaddanakeri Cross, Kaladagi, Muddebihal and Shiroor received heavy rain. The atmosphere was cloudy Lokapur, Hungund, Amingad, Kamathagi, Kerur and Guledagudda since morning. Various parts of Chikkamagaluru and Mudigere taluks received copious rain on Wednesday. Chikkamagaluru, Bababudangiri, Kottigehara, Banakal, Baggasagodu, Sabbenahalli, Bettagere, Guthi, Kanachuru, Devarunda, Gonibeedu received good rainfall.

The rain, though lasted for one hour, caught the people unawares and brought much relief from scorching sun.

Coffee planters were relieved a lot as they were waiting for rain for the survival of  coffee and ginger crops. As Arabica and Robasta coffee plants had started flowering, they needed rainfall to retain the flowers. Horanadu too received rain coupled with lightning and thunder. The rain lasted for about 45 minutes. The rain also brought relief to the arecanut and coffee growers. Even Kalasa too experienced drizzling. Parts of Subrahmanya, Uppinangady, Nelady, Ujire, Charmadi in Dakshina Kannada district too received rainfall.

Rain also lashed Ballari, Sandur in Ballari district, Halebid and Konanur in Hassan district. Moderate rain lashed various parts of Shivamogga district.
