IAS officer, son held in murder case

Hyderabad West Zone police on Tuesday arrested senior IAS officer Dharavat Venkateswara Rao and his son Dharavat Venkata Sukruth for murdering their car driver. Sukurth had reportedly murdered the driver on the terrace of an apartment complex in Yousufguda here on Friday.

The police arrested Rao also for assisting his son in concealing the body of the driver.
The IAS officer is joint secretary to the Agriculture Corporation, Telangana, while his son Sukruth is a second year law student

According to the police, Sukruth and his estranged mother’s driver, Bhukya Nagaraj, got habituated to drinking liquor on the terrace of Sri Kalyan Residency apartment, which is close to Sukruth’s Mathura Nagar residence. On Friday last, they both entered the apartment complex around 10.30 pm and consumed liquor. Police said Nagaraj then touched Sukruth inappropriately and tried to initiate unnatural sex. Sukruth got into an argument with Nagaraj and both had a scuffle. Sukruth then hit him on the head with a brick, killing him on the spot.

He then disclosed the offence he had committed to his father and other family members. The IAS officer suggested disposing of the body. Police said the CCTV footage at the apartment complex and the call data of the father-son duo helped nab them.
