The state Congress has petitioned the Election Commission of India (ECI) against State BJP B S Yeddyurappa accusing him of indulging in “corrupt practice” while campaigning for Gundlupet bypolls.
In the petition, Congress leaders H M Revanna and V S Ugrappa have stated that Yeddyurappa has violated the model code of conduct by asking voters to take oath in the name of God that they will vote for the BJP candidate in Gundlupet bypolls.
The duo said the incident happened on March 23 at an election campaign meeting in Bheemana Beedu village. They charged that Yeddyurappa promised the voters that he will adopt Gundlupet constituency if he becomes chief minister.
Congress said this is nothing but an “undue influence” on the voters of the Gundlupet constituency.
