Cop suspended for dereliction of duty

City Police Commissioner Praveen Sood ordered the suspension of Jeevan Bima Nagar inspector on Tuesday for dereliction of duty.

Shiva Prasad, the inspector, failed to check a prostitution racket that was going on in a massage parlour behind the police station. A few persons reported the matter to Prasad and his staff. They inspected the parlour but did not take any action. This was aired by several local news channels, said a senior police officer.

The issue was brought to the notice of senior police officers, who conducted an enquiry and submitted a report to Sood following which Prasad was suspended. The matter is being probed and a few staffers at the police station will also be suspended, added the officer.
