A colourful celebration

Jyoti Nivas College recently celebrated its college day at its auditorium recently. The event began with the lighting of the lamp. Sr Elizabeth, principal of the College, welcomed the guests. She extended her gratitude to all those present and for all who were a part of the college from its humble beginning and growth.

She gave a brief highlight of the academic year and the various achievements of the students and staff, all of which was included in a short audio and video presentation. In retrospection of the years gone by, ‘Advaya’, the college dance team delivered an enthralling performance focussing on 'women and education'.

The kathak dance team also presented a splendid performance on ‘woman empowerment’. The presentation of college achievements and awards and the club activities came next. Mamata Rayareddy, president, presented the college union activities.

This was followed by a video presentation of the college results for the year 2014-2015.

Chief guest Basavaraj Rayareddi, minister for higher education, addressed the gathering with a short speech. He expressed his appreciation to the college for doing its part in educating the nation. He also extended his wishes to the college.

The college journals of all the departments were released by the editorial board accompanied by the dignitaries and the principal.

The award ceremony began with the felicitation of the staff by Grace Thomas. Staff members who celebrated the 25th year milestone were honoured.

This was followed by the felicitation of student achievers with their respective awards in academics, sports, cultural and club activities.

The function ended with a spectacular cultural extravaganza, titled ‘Muneara’ or ‘Discover Yourself’.
