Maharashtra on Wednesday assured release of 2 tmcft of water from the Koyna reservoir to Krishna river in two days.
On the request from a delegation of Karnataka BJP MPs, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said he would release the water in two days.
The delegation comprising Karnataka MPs Pralhad Joshi, Prabhakar Kore and Suresh Angadi met Fadnavis and explained him the current water crisis in north Karnataka.
"The Maharashtra chief minister agreed to release 2 tmcft of water from the Koyna reservoir in two days. This will help in addressing the drinking water crisis in Belagavi, Vijayapura and Bagalkot districts,” Joshi told reporters here.
