A total of 2,300 MW of power has been generated in the current year following the commissioning of three units, which is a record of sorts, Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL) Managing Director G Kumar Naik said on Thursday.

He was speaking after setting in motion the second unit of the Yeramarus Thermal Power Station which has the capacity to generate 800 MW of power.

“We have written to the Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam Ltd (KBJNL) seeking water supply for the functioning of the YTPS and the RTPS (Raichur Thermal Power Station). There was some confusion on the matter because of lack of clear information,” he said.

The YTPS project has been executed by the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), the managing director informed.
