Govt cracks down on tainted officials

The state Cabinet has decided to take stringent action against five government employees, including a chief executive officer of a taluk panchayat, who are facing charges of corruption.

While four of them have been asked to take compulsory retirement, another employee has been dismissed from the service.

Chief executive officer of Turuvekere taluk panchayat H K Prakash is forced to take compulsory retirement as he was involved in a Lokayukta trap case, according to Law Minister T B Jayachandra.

Similarly, assistant executive engineer Tungabhadra project H M Shivaprakash, who was involved in Lokayukta trap case; Drug Controller in Chamarajnagar Krishna Reddy, who was facing charges of misappropriation; head master of the government higher primary school in Chittapur taluk in Kalaburagi district Basavaraj Bosage have been asked to take compulsory retirement.

Assistant executive engineer at Karanja canal project K Lakshman, who was facing criminal charges, has been dismissed from the service, the minister said.
