<div align="justify">A youth was killed while another was injured when security forces opened fire on protesters in congested Batamaloo area of Srinagar on Saturday evening.<br /><br />Locals said that a few stones hit paramilitary BSF vehicle which was caught in a traffic jam in Batamaloo and they fired on the youth who was walking nearby. The slain youth has been identified as 23-year-old Sajad Hussain Sheikh of Chandoosa Baramulla, at present S D Colony Srinagar.<br /><br />While confirming the death of Hussain, a police spokesperson said they were collecting collecting the details and looking into the circumstances under which Sheikh got killed<br />“The District Police Srinagar has informed that there was no deployment in the area,” he said adding the matter is being investigated.<br /><br />Health officials said two injured youth were brought to the SMHS hospital in Srinagar. While one of them was brought dead, another youth is being operated upon, they said.<br /><br />Locals said the killing triggered panic in volatile Batamaloo area. The Valley has been on the edge since April 9, when eight civilians were killed in clashes during by-polling to Srinagar Parliament constituency.<br /></div>
