Manmohan to helm Cong panel on Kashmir

Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday set up a policy planning group for Jammu and Kashmir chaired by former prime minister Manmohan Singh.

The nine-member group comprises senior leaders Karan Singh, P Chidambaram, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ambika Soni, Ghulam Ahmed Mir, Rigzin Zora, Tariq Ahmed Karra and Shyam Lal Sharma.

The Congress has been critical of the Modi government’s handling of the Kashmir issue.

A delegation of the Congress-National Conference leaders from Kashmir met President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday to apprise him of the situation in the state.
