Six employees of Janasri news channel reportedly tried to extort Rs 1.05 crore from a bar owner in Koramangala about a week ago. However, the incident came to light on Thursday.
Pradeep and five others from the channel went to Davath Bar and Restaurant in Koramangala around 8.30 pm on April 14. They met the manager and demanded Rs 1.05 crore which the bar owner had ‘promised’ to pay them, Harish Shetty, the manager, stated in a complaint with the Koramangala police on April 15.
When Shetty refused to pay up, they abused and threatened him. They demanded Rs 5 lakh immediately and warned him that a negative story would be aired if he did not pay them, Shetty stated.
They also attempted to manhandle Shetty. However, customers at the bar intervened and pacified the two sides. On the bar owner’s suggestion, Shetty lodged a police complaint. With this, the number of cases against Janasri news channel has touched four.
