State bags national e-Governance award again

Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister H K Patil has said that Karnataka has bagged the E-Award instituted by the Centre for effective use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the Panchayat Raj department for the year 2015-16. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will present the award on April 24 in Lucknow during an event to mark National Panchayat Raj Day.

Patil convened a meeting with the chief executive officers and deputy secretaries of all Zilla Panchayats in the state at the Abdul Nazir Sab Institute for Rural Development here on Saturday. Patil told reporters that, “We have achieved transparency in execution of all development projects through the ‘Gandhi Saakshi Kayaka’ software. The software and other ICT applications have helped the department in implementing the works in an efficient and responsible way. The Union Panchayat Raj ministry has chosen Karnataka once again for the prestigious award,” he said.

At the state-level, Kodagu ZP, Puttur and Sagar Taluk Panchayats and Malige Grama Panchayat in Thirthahalli taluk have been selected for the E-Award.
