Five die in group clash; no FIR registered as police debate jurisdiction

Five persons got killed in a firing as clashes over land dispute emerged between two groups at the border of Alwar and Bharatpur districts of Rajasthan.

The incident took place on Tuesday morning when the members of two groups, Karan Saini and Vijay Saini got into a verbal dispute over agriculture land situated in the Khedi vIllage of Alwar and Bhararpur border. The dispute took an ugly turn when the members from Vijay Saini’s group attacked Karan Saini with sharp weapon and opened up fire. SHO Nadbai, Nemi Chand told DH, “Both the groups belong to the same community and according to the locals they have been fighting over the piece of land since long.

On Tuesday morning around 7:30AM when Karan Saini’s family members were irrigating the agriculture land, the group members of Vijay Saini reached on the spot and dispute took place. With the growing heated arguments between the two factions, a member from Vijay Saini attacked the members of Karan Saini with a sharp weapon. Following which a member from Vijay Saini’s group opened up the fire which killed 5 persons on spot including a woman”.

Twentty five others have been  injured out of which some have been referred to Jaipur’s SMS hospital. Since the village and agriculture land is situated on the border of Alwar- Bhararpur village, police in the border districts of Alwar and Bharatpur are unable to decide on filing the FIR. However Alwar’s police station filed the FIR at 7:15PM after receiving directions from the office of IG Jaipur.

Alwar SP Rahul Prakash told DH, “Police filed the FIR in the evening under section IPC 302. Karan Saini has lodged it against 25 people who belong to Vijay Saini's group.  The name of the deceased are Premwati, Bahadur and Nunu, Karan Singh and Mohan. According to our information the 12 bore-gun that was used to fire belong to Lalla Ram, army personnel who is known to Vijay Saini and had come to Alwar on vacations.” The group members who opened up the fire are still absconding and police is yet to record statement of any of the injured.
