Nagawara-Thanisandra Metro route to KIA final?

Last Updated 25 April 2017, 19:02 IST

The chances of Namma Metro line from Nagawara to Kempegowda International airport via Thanisandra are high.

Earlier, Rail India Technical and Economic Service (Rites) had proposed nine routes for Metro-airport connectivity and with regard to this, BRMCL had published the details on its website and called for people’s opinions. Around 1,300 people had responded and most of them favoured extension of Gottigere to Nagawara Metro line till the airport. A meeting was held between Bengaluru Development Minister K J George and Byatarayanapura MLA and minister Krishna Byre Gowda on Tuesday.

An official, who attended the meeting, said: “The ministers have shown interest in finalising the airport connectivity through the route passing by Nagawara, Thanisandra and Rashtrotthana Vidya Kendra. There are lesser chances for other probable airport connectivity routes such as Mehkri Circle to Yelahanka, Yeshwantpur to Yelahanka and K R Puram to Budigere Cross.”

“Under Metro second phase, Gottigere to Nagawara Metro line is going to come up. The line passes along the route of - Jayadeva Hospital, Diary Circle, M G Road, Shivajinagar and Cantonment Railway Station. People will benefit if this route is extended till the airport. People from South Bangalore will benefit if there is Metro connectivity to airport,” said a BMRCL official.
