Ruckus in Rajasthan Assembly: Speaker suspends 14 Opposition MLAs

 In a dramatic move Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Kailash Meghwal on Wednesday suspended 14 MLAs of Opposition, including 12 of Congress over unruly behaviour during question hour.

On the third day of assembly session called especially to ratify the GST bill, The state assembly today witnessed dramatic scenes from opposition barging into well, questioning speakers decision, entry of marshals - followed by lifting, dragging and pushing of MLAs in well. Following which unruly scene and uproar led to adjournment of house thrice.

The ruckus in the house started with speaker denying permission to raise supplementary question during question hour to opposition whip Govind Singh Dotasara. on being stopped to ask a supplementary question. Dotasara stepped in the well, followed by other Congress MLAs and two others. Dotasara questioned when his name is there in the list, why BJP MLA Jogaram Patel is allowed to speak, to which speaker said two supplementary questions has been raised by Congress.

MLAs from ruling party, along with their deputy whip Madan Rathore demanded speaker to remove them from house. To which, speaker called marshals and Opposition MLAs were dragged out.  following uproar, speaker adjourned the house for an hour, and later twice for half and hour.


As the house resumed, the speaker suspended 14 MLAs of opposition including 12 of Congress- Govind Singh Dotasara, Dhiraj Gujjar, Ramesh Meena, Ghanshyam Mehr, Ashok Chandna, Shakuntla Rawat, Heera Lal Darangi, Sukhram BIshnoi, Ram narayan Gujjar, Rajendra YAdav, Shravan kUmar, Bhanwar Singh Bhati,   Manoj Nyangli (BSP),and  Hanuman Beniwal (independent). 

After the house resumed, Leader of Opposition Rameshwar Dudi, and senior congress leader and MLA from Raja Kheda Pradhuyman Singh appealed to the speaker to suspend the remaining congress MLAs as well. In Rajasthan Legislative assembly, in the house of 200 MLAS , Opposition congress has 24 seats.
