Kalpit Veerval, of Udaipur district in Rajasthan, has topped the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)-Main by scoring 360 out of 360 marks. A Hundred percent scorer and topper in general as well as Scheduled Caste category, Kalpit is now also eyeing JEE advanced.

Around the same time when results got declared online, Chairperson of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), RK Chaturvedi, called Veerval to give him the news. He told DH over phone, "Its one of the best days of my life. I feel optimistic and now I am eyeing at JEE Advanced which is my ultimate aim. I am sure if I continue to keep my schedule unaltered I will be able to crack that also."

Kalpit believes his regular class attendance and confidence helped him to achieve the goal. He also had earlier topped the Indian Junior Science Olympiad and the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE).

Sharing his success mantra with DH, Veerval said, "I have been studying in Kota's resonance since my 8th class and finally I have been able to crack the entrance in first attempt". While most of the aspirants say that they study for 12-16 hours a day, Veerval has a different tale to share, "I hardly used to study 6-7 hours per day. I used to take proper food and sleep and my parents were round the corner with me to ensure that I stay fit", the topper added.

Sports is the best way to De-stress yourself

When asked how did he manage to keep stress away while studying in Kota which is known for the ugly suicides of students, Kalpit said, "I used to play badminton and cricket regularly but stopped watching television. I also surfed internet to increase my knowledge".

Veerval is equally proud to be first in his family to choose JEE field. His elder brother is a medical student in AIIMS. "My brother was interested in medicine as he was influenced by our father, who is a compounder at Udaipur’s Maharana Bhupal Government Hospital."

His mother Pushpa Veerwal, who  is a government school teacher told DH, "My son used to work hard but at the same time he did not neglect other priorities. He performed well in school also and equally participated in sports related activities. We are hopeful this result will help him to succeed in Advanced entrance as well."
Apart from Kota's Resonance institute, Allen, Kota has also bagged 4th and 10th rank respectively. Similarly, Allen Jaipur has also managed to get 21st, 22nd and 23rd rank in top 50 all over India.

The results of the exam conducted for admission to various engineering colleges, including the premier Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), were declared by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

Over 10.2 lakh students had appeared for the exam at 1,781 centres across the country. The examination was held on April 2 (offline) and April 8 and 9 (online).

Candidates clearing the JEE-Main will be eligible to appear in the JEE-Advanced exam, 2017. The JEE is conducted for admission to B.Tech, BE and B.Arch programmes offered at IITs, NITs, IIITs and other government-approved engineering institutes.
